Nearly 18 Years Later, Bully Might Be Making Its Big Return On The PS5 And Xbox Series X|S

According to Rockstar Games insider Ben on X, the studio is releasing a version of Bully on all next-gen consoles this month. The iconic 2006 action-adventure title is going to land on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S on August 20 if the info provided by the leaker is correct. As per Ben, Rockstar sent an email that stated that the game will debut on GTA+ this month.

The Scholarship Edition of Bully will be making its way to Xbox series consoles while PS5 players will be able to play the standard PlayStation 4 version through GTA+. Furthermore, the leaker said that Rockstar will share new info very soon and that this also applies to the iOS and Android versions of the controversial 2006 title.

Bully Is One Of Gaming’s Greats

Bully was released around a time when Rockstar let its smaller subsidiaries like the Vancouver studio make smaller budget side projects in addition to the main money makers such as the Grand Theft Auto franchise.

Originally showcased as a title where you play as the bully, the end result was quite different with our protagonist Jimmy Hopkins taking steps to put a stop to bullying and only hurting people on behalf of victims.

Due to its unique premise and fresh setting that puts a troubled delinquent in a boarding school, Bully has received universal praise throughout its life cycle for its well-constructed characters, haunting soundtrack, and narrative with many regarding it as a classic. Unsurprisingly, its content did garner controversy as many parents disagreed with its handling of the subject matter and the sexual elements of Jimmy’s life.

Yahoo! Games listed Bully as one of the top 10 controversial titles in gaming history. However, despite all the negative press, the game was a commercial success selling 1.5 million copies by 2008 and getting released on several new consoles.

As of right now, you can play the game on PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Wii, PC, Android, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and iOS.
