GTA 6 Day-One Release Confirmed For Consoles; No PC Included

In typical Rockstar Games fashion.

Story Highlights

  • Take-Two Interactive has confirmed GTA 6 day-one launch for current-gen consoles in a new statement.
  • The devs or publisher has not explicitly mentioned the PC launch, making many assume the worst.
  • It will not launch day one on PC and will likely come out later, like with the devs’ other games in the past.

Rockstar Games has unveiled the trailer for GTA 6 after much anticipation. With the trailer, a plethora of other details have been confirmed from the footage we have seen so far. We finally know that Grand Theft Auto 6 will come out in 2025, two years from now. Take-Two Interactive also published a notable press release confirming the title’s day-one platforms. With the reveal, one of the worst fears of fans has also come true.

The title has been affirmed for a day-one release on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X consoles. However, there was no mention of the PC platform anywhere in the reveal. The absence can only conclude that Rockstar Games does not plan on releasing GTA 6 on PC as a day-one release. This controversial choice is not all that uncommon for the giant conglomerate, as it has gone with a similar strategy ever since GTA 2 came out.

Rockstar Games®, a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO), is proud to announce that Grand Theft Auto VI is coming to PlayStation® 5 computer entertainment systems and Xbox Series X|S games and entertainment systems in 2025,” mentions the official report.

We can expect Rockstar Games to release Grand Theft Auto 6 on PC later down the road after it dominates on consoles. This will also give the devs more time to polish the entry to perfection before it arrives on PC. Unfortunately, we may have to wait more than a year to two years before it arrives on PC. GTA 5 was released after two years on PC, while Red Dead Redemption 2 took about one and a half years.

The founder of Rockstar Games, Sam Houser, has celebrated the occasion in the press release, showing much excitement to share the new venture with fans in the near future.

Grand Theft Auto VI continues our efforts to push the limits of what’s possible in highly immersive, story-driven open-world experiences. We’re thrilled to be able to share this new vision with players everywhere.”

The GTA 6 trailer was initially supposed to drop later today, but the time had to change due to a significant leak in the community. Low-quality footage from the trailer had started making rounds on Twitter, so the team decided to push the original out ahead of schedule. GTA 6 will reimagine Florida Miami with all its neon-filled glory and satirize the modern-day city with great detail.
