The prize pool is the biggest one we've seen so far in a fighting game tournament.

Story Highlights

  • Street Fighter 6 will feature the biggest prize pool in fighting game history.
  • The next Capcom Cup will feature Street Fighter 6 as the main game.
  • The winner of the Capcom Cup X will be able to take $1,000,000 home.

Street Fighter announced on their official Twitter that the Capcom Cup X would be played on Street Fighter 6 and would feature a massive prize pool.

According to the announcement made during the Capcom Cup IX over the weekend, Capcom Cup X will feature a total prize pool of over $2,000,000. Additionally, the 1st place winner will receive $1,000,000, and the tournament will likely be held in February 2024.

Street Fighter 6 is set to release on June 2 for Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Steam. Capcom has already conducted two Closed Beta Tests of the fighting game, which turned out to be a massive success for the company due to the game’s popularity.

Street Fighter 6 is set to introduce several new features which haven’t been seen before in a fighting game, such as the World Tour Mode, which allows you to create a custom character and explore the open world, while also learning special moves from the game’s original characters.

The next season of Capcom Pro Tour will also feature Street Fighter 6 for the first time, which will take the exclusive spot from Street Fighter 5, officially ending the game’s run this upcoming summer.

The prize pool of $2,000,000 is the biggest ever in the fighting game history. It will also attract many new players and old ones to get into the competitive scene of fighting games. Additionally, it will also compel rival fighting game franchises to up their prize pools for future tournaments.

Street Fighter 5 was released in February 2016 and has been among the most popular fighting games of the current era, alongside Tekken 7 and Guilty Gear -STRIVE-.

Judging from the Closed Beta Tests of Street Fighter 6, the game will feature a vastly improved netcode, as well as interesting game modes and better graphics.
