Cyberpunk 2077 Will Engage Players “On Multiple Levels”

"Not Just The Visceral, But Also The Intellectual

Cyberpunk 2077 is the next game from CDR and keeping in mind that these are the guys behind The Witcher series, it is safe to say that the bar is set pretty high and that there is a lot of expectations for the game. While we do not have a release date for the game and from the looks of things we will be waiting a while longer that did not stop CDPR from talking about different aspects of Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a complex game and it has all kinds of small details which we have seen in the trailer but this information should give you further context. CD Projekt Red quest designer Patrick Mills, touched on the matter and the following is what he had to say in this regard:

Cyberpunk 2077 is a game about people with power at the top and people at the bottom with none. That power can come from money, hierarchies, technology and violence.

Mills further went on to talk about the original Cyberpunk series as well as The Witcher series in contrast to the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game. The following is what he had to say in this regard:

The original Cyberpunk 2020 setting, like the setting of The Witcher stories, was a complex critique of the author’s world, and we don’t shy away from that In our games. On the contrary! I think it’s one of the things that sets us apart. Of course, to us, mature doesn’t mean just *** and violence. We will try to engage you on multiple levels, not just the visceral, but also the intellectual. Cyberpunk is an inherently political genre and it’s an inherently political franchise.

He further went on to talk about how Cyberpunk 2077 is a representation of the world that we live in where a hand full of people are ruling over the majority of the rest. This does depend on your perspective of the world but it does make sense. I think this is going to be something very relatable. The following is what he had to say in this regard:

It’s a place that is very critical of the world in which we live, in interesting and complex ways and we hope we can get that across. Cyberpunk 2077 is about a world where a vanishingly small number of ultra-rich individuals at the top of intractable corporate power structures reign over a disintegrating world where the vast majority of the population lives in an endless cycle of poverty and violence. How different that is from our world depends a lot on your perspective, I suppose.

From what we have seen of the game, it seems that there is still some time before we will be able to play it. I think that the fans do not mind waiting a while longer as long as they get a decent game at launch. I am sure that the final version of Cyberpunk 2077 will be great. I should be worth the wait at the end.
