Detective Pikachu 2 Is Evidently Nearing Its Release

When we talk about the world’s biggest franchises, Pokémon is one name that always comes up. Since 1998, the Pokémon Company has handled one of the most extensive entertainment juggernauts with great success. It has expanded to movies, TV shows, books, and much more since its start from video games.

One of the critical reasons for this success is the franchise’s mascot, Pikachu. The lovable yellow Pokémon, which is based on a squirrel, has become a staple of pop culture around the world. From kids to adults, everyone recognizes the creature making it an important marketing tool for Pokémon.

The company has used Pikachu extensively and even made a spin-off game called Detective Pikachu. It came out in 2018 and got a movie plus a sequel based on its success. Now, we finally have some new info about this long-awaited sequel.

Eagle-eyed fans have discovered that Detective Pikachu 2 is going to be released very soon. A user on the FamiBoards forum first broke this news by sharing the LinkedIn of a programmer. The programmer is currently working at the Pokémon Company and his bio has revealed something huge about the game. 

Jonathan Murphy is the programmer and has worked on Detective Pikachu 2 according to his work experience. He says he has worked on an unannounced game and one near-release. Then, he follows it up by saying that the latter is none other than Detective Pikachu 2. 

As the game has had no major reveal yet, this is something huge. It has been in development for three years since the initial announcement in 2019. But, the Pokémon Company has been dead silent about Detective Pikachu 2 leading fans to believe the worst. 

Finding out it could be released soon out of the blue is genuinely shocking. Keep in mind, there is not even a trailer for the game yet. So, maybe we will get a reveal for Detective Pikachu 2 soon enough considering this news. 

The only thing we know for sure about the sequel right now is that it will release on the Nintendo Switch. Nothing else is certain at this point and we have to wait for Nintendo or the Pokémon Company to announce a release. But, it is nice to finally get some news about Detective Pikachu 2.

Hopefully, the release isn’t too far away now. And who knows, maybe we will even get a Detective Pikachu 2 movie.
