The only record Diablo Immortal seems to be breaking is not one it should be proud of. Diablo Immortal has joined the ranks of Madden NFL, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, and Warcraft 3 as one of the worst user-rated games on Metacritic.
Over the course of the last few days, the story of Diablo Immortal has continued to get even more distraught. From the extremely grindy gameplay to the obscene amount of microtransactions, the game continues to fall in the eyes of loyal players worldwide.
Of course, players of the gaming industry don’t take these hits without some blowback. In turn, players review-bombed the ever-living hell out of this game, putting it into the top five worst rated games ever on Metacritic. As of writing, it stands at a meager 0.5 on the User Score.
However, not all is clear. The User Score may be in the slump, but the critic reviews are still decent. Standing on a respectable 75 Metascore, it doesn’t make sense why the divide between the players and the critics would be so large. It can be said that the players are just salty, but is this the case?
Many say that these critics could just be buyouts, giving false reviews. This may be the case here, but Diablo Immortal isn’t all that bad of a game. It has its upsides, but its negatives completely take over it. Considering it takes, get this, over $100,000 just to get maximum gear in the game.
With other issues, such as the game not working on Samsung Galaxy devices, or the many other errors that players are frequently facing, the game being somewhat broken and messy was too much to bear even after so many delays.
Blizzard Entertainment could have taken another approach. Sticking with Diablo Immortal was a bad play, and one it’ll live to regret. With everything at hand, Blizzard Entertainment needs a miracle right now because the game seems to be declining badly.
