Elden Ring Player Kills Beloved Pope Turtle So You Don’t Have To

Miriel, Pastor of Vows, also known as Pope Turtle, is one of the most beloved non-player characters in Elden Ring. He keeps your Sorcery Scrolls and Incantation Tomes, and he increases your knowledge of the game’s lore by helping you study Sorceries and Incantations with him. The character is exceptionally kind to the player and always supports and wishes the best for them, which is why it breaks our heart to say that one player has killed Miriel, Pastor of Vows, to find out what would happen, so you don’t have to.

In a post by u/VG_Crimson on r/EldenRing, the player explains in great but heartbreaking detail what happens after you kill Miriel, Pastor of Vows, or Pope Turtle, in Elden Ring. They open up by answering the two most important questions; “Do I regret it? Yes!”; and “Would I do it again? Never. I did this so you won’t have to.” After that, the player explains the details about exactly what happened.

After the first few swings, Miriel, Pastor of Vows, claims that the player simply cannot kill him, and their efforts to do so are futile. However, after a bit more hack-and-slash when the player gets him to half his health, he says to the player that he would never hold this against them if they stopped and refuses to retaliate against the player’s violent behaviour. However, after continuing to try and kill him until the player is finally successful, Miriel, Pastor of Vows, screams one last time in a low, heartbreaking way and then disappears.

This, of course, does not reward them with anything special at all and they simply “gain a couple of turtle neck meats and his bell bearing.” Instead, they lose their “best place to dump all your incantations/sorceries at” and the chance to learn knowledge from Miriel, Pastor of Vows, in Elden Ring. At the end of the post, the player advises others not to do what they did. While this post was certainly heartbreaking to read through, it did answer the curiosity of many players. For some, it was boring, but for most (including us), it was just heart-wrenching.
