The highly awaited Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis has only recently launched on iOS and Android devices and already become the talk of the town in less than a single day. The entry has seemingly gained over two million downloads despite being released on limited platforms — and in quite a lovely art style venerated by loyal Final Fantasy fans. The news is quite startling since it gained over a million downloads in a matter of a few hours alone.

To clarify the mobile gacha game’s success, Square Enix had barely just announced the massive milestone of the title. It reached one million downloads when the numbers soared to an all-time high. And in just under two hours, Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis has defeated all odds to get another million downloads, leaving both the devs and the fans ecstatic by all the anticipation being satiated right after release.

The devs will reward the fans with in-game items to commemorate both major milestones. A thousand Blue Crystals have proven to be nothing short of a treat for the users, and another thousand are on the way for everyone to reach two million downloads. The offer for the initial thousand Blue Crystals is valid until October 8, 2023, at 7:59 AM PDT. The second reward also has a similar time limit before it becomes invalid for fans.

The director, Tetsuya Nomura, recently spoke in an interview and said that Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis was initially only supposed to feature the original FF7 that fans know and love. However, things slowly became reckless, as the dev wanted to include everything from the start to the end. Hence, the gripping approach has resulted in a gacha mobile game featuring an amalgamation of many sagas that are worth experiencing in a cutesy chibi style.

It is a hearty and inspiring mobile entry that blends the miscellany of Final Fantasy 7 alongside the original game, Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, Before Crisis and even Advent Children in playable forms. The gacha experience also features new outfits for the beloved characters, adding a sense of newness to compliment our wistful memories. There is also an added level of changes to prior events that fans are quite aware of.

Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis fans have also raised concerns about the game featuring many gacha mechanics that can leave a sour aftertaste for some. Moreover, the constant pop-ups and UI can initially be a little hard to get used to at the start. But turning all of the clutter off can make for a relaxing and story-filled mobile gaming experience. Overall, the title has been drowned in positive reception by older and newbie Final Fantasy fans.

The title is seemingly going to be released in a monthly episodic format. It has been developed by Applibot and published by Square Enix for Apple and Android devices only.
