Story Highlights
- A Mortal Kombat remaster is possibly in the works, as teased by the Eyeballistic CEO on Twitter.
- The CEO teased the remaster through alleged AI images, which he neither accepted nor denied.
- The exact project is currently unclear, but we may learn more in the future. Take it with a grain of salt.
A Mortal Kombat remaster is reportedly already in the works. The tidbit was originally teased by the Eyeballistic CEO, Joe Tresca, on Twitter late last month via an alleged AI-generated screenshot, claiming that the studio is “cooking up something special.” He’s made another tweet yesterday since then, sharing a similar image. While the teases excited many of us, others were turned off by the AI images, which he neither accepted nor denied.
Although it’s unlikely that the remasters themselves will feature any AI elements. Additionally, while replying to fans, the CEO confirmed that a Shaolin Monks remaster and a Mortal Kombat 4 remake are also on his bucket list.
Not The First Time Mortal Kombat Remasters Are In Development
In the past, the Eyeballistic studio was already chosen to work on the remasters of the first three MK games. While the green light was initially given, the project was abandoned due to fears that it might cannibalize the sales of the mainline titles. Ed Boon may have allowed the studio to work on it again. And if it is anything else, then we can reckon that devs will not struggle to pick any of the titles from the absolute classics to remaster.

All in all, it is best to take these teases with a pinch of salt. The Eyeballistic CEO could just be nudging us about a nothing burger, or the remaster may just take a couple of years to develop.
