Most Overwatch 2 fans have pointed out the many underlying issues in the reviews. Many Steam reviews ask players to try better games or warn others of the predatory elements in Overwatch 2. There are even links to other popular shooters or random memes making fun of the sequel. The community has mainly complained about Blizzard ditching its highly-pitched PvE mode that was supposed to be the limelight of the sequel.

The studio instead integrated separate PvE missions. But even these missions drain your pockets out of $15 instead of being free like fans initially expected. Another predatory practice is that heroes are locked behind battle passes, making it unfair for free-to-play users. The cosmetics are quite costly, which is another major cause for concern for the players.

Overall, we can expect the review-bombing to subside in the coming days. But the sequel will take a long time to recover from the bombardment of negative reviews—here’s to hoping that Blizzard starts catering towards adding content that resonates with Overwatch 2 players.

Overwatch 2 has proven to be a husk of its formal glory, but it still retains a healthy amount of player base for now. Regardless, Blizzard Entertainment has pretty much stripped the most juicy parts out of the game. It caused many players to retort because the sequel is basically like the older game with more caveats sprinkled in between. The ruinous release of the title on the Steam platform has further cemented that notion.

The first-person shooter came out with its fair share of controversies on October 4 2022, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. The initial launch was brimming with old and new players alike and tripled the amount of peak concurrency in contrast to the original Overwatch. However, things soon declined for the worst as the devs failed to live up to the promises made to the fans.
