Story Highlights
- Roblox is one of the biggest names in the gaming industry, coming across as a game creation platform.
- Over the course of the past few days, the game has achieved a monumental feat, outclassing even the likes of Steam.
- The platform has attracted a concurrent user count of more than 47 million players in recent times.
Roblox has been in the game for quite a while now (no pun intended), but lately, it’s been making rounds on the internet for pulling off a bigger feat than industry giant Steam. Taking to LinkedIn, Roblox Strategy Consultant James Purell confirmed that the popular game creation platform was able to attract over 47 million players, all thanks to a little tussle created by the developers of Steal a Brainrot and Grow a Garden, which are two different Roblox experiences.
Steal a Brainrot became only the second game EVER on Roblox to hit 20M concurrent users. ‘Grow a Garden’ hit 21.1M. Developers Jandel and Sammy (owners of the experiences) spent the week throwing shade at each other on Twitter and Discord, with their communities picking sides.
Whether it was real beef or marketing genius, it worked. Both games exploded. This in turn made Roblox reach 47.4M total concurrent users,” said the official executive.

How’s that for numbers? Steam was only ever able to manage somewhere around 41 million players, in contrast, which puts Roblox a dash ahead of Valve’s mega-popular video game launcher.
For those who do not know, Roblox is like YouTube, but instead of videos, the focal point is games. Players come in to experience existing creations by other users, and take a shot at game development on their own. If done right, they make their work public and let others try it out for fun.
As with any other online space, Roblox too comprises geolocked content that users may try to access either with paid, or at other times with a free VPN. Although the latter is against the game’s ToS, players claim that Roblox doesn’t really seem to care about it, and rarely ever bans a player for using such a tool.
