Silent Hill Creator Says His New Game Slitterhead Is Heavily Inspired By Siren

The possession system will be a big part of the game.

Story Highlights

  • The Silent Hill creator has said that his new entry, Slitterhead, is heavily inspired by Siren.
  • It will feature a better version of the possession system found in the popular classic.
  • Toyama knows the title will not appeal to everyone, but he hopes everyone will give it a try.

The Silent Hill creator—also the CEO and creator of Bokeh Game Studio—Keiichiro Toyama recently appeared in an interview with Famitsu and confirmed that his upcoming action-adventure horror entry, Slitterhead, is deeply inspired by the classic masterpiece, Siren. Slitterhead will borrow the unique elements that made Siren stand out and weave them into an action-focused title. The psychic ability “Sightjacking” is also making a comeback.

Slitterhead will let you possess bodies rather than senses like in Siren, but it will still allow players to look into other characters’ points of view from time to time “as a form of fanservice.”

Slitterhead Will Reimagine Siren As A Modern Action Game

Those who have played and enjoyed the original Siren in the early 2000s should surely be excited for Slitterhead. It will take those features that made Siren special and amp it up a notch to turn it into a modern action experience. Toyama knows that it’s shaping up to be a title that will not necessarily appeal to everyone—because of the unique features—but he hopes that it can be marketed and played by other than those who “get it.
