Sonic Frontiers Is Getting Review Bombed Following Dunkey’s Video

Sonic Frontiers' user score has dropped from 8.8 to 8.4 on Metacritic.

Sonic fans just can’t get a win. Following a video from popular games YouTuber and CEO of Big Mode, “videogamedunkey” criticizing Sonic Frontiers, a whole host of Dunkey fans have taken it upon themselves to downvote the game.

Major Takeaways:

  • Sonic Frontiers is getting review bombed on Metacritic following videogamedunkey’s new video.
  • The game’s Metacritic score has dropped from 8.8 to 8.4.
  • The game has received over 500 reviews since the video’s upload.

This review bombing was a result of the last section of Dunkey’s newest video showing the user score of Sonic Frontiers and comparing it to other games such as Super Mario Odyssey, Uncharted 4, and Metal Gear Solid V among others that had a similar user score.

This has led many fans of the content creator to swarm the game’s Metacritic and flood it with negative reviews in order to lower the game’s user score.

We move to the user reviews to see what the experts think.

Already, only a little over 15 hours after the video has gone live, Sonic Frontiers’ user score has dropped from 8.8 to an 8.4 on Metacritic. With over 500 reviews added since the video has been uploaded. As one would expect, a majority of the negative comments directly reference Dunkey’s newest video.

For those who would prefer to keep their IQ intact, we are also showing off some of the “hilarious” and delusional reviews from the true experts of the gaming industry such as dunkeylover69.

Obviously, there are some reviews that are satirical, pointing out the absurdity of the situation.

Videogamedunkey’s video has also received a huge amount of backlash from Sonic fans on Twitter for undeservedly painting the game in a negative light. He has also previously received negativity for his videos on games like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3 as well as Square Enix’s JRPG Octopath Traveller.

Sonic Frontiers was released on November 8th for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

The game received a modest reception from critics but got highly positive reviews from many Sonic fans citing its smooth controls, fantastic music, and large-scale bosses as its standout features.

While the game still isn’t perfect, even many of its detractors have noted that the game sets an exceptional base for the developers to build off of and make a truly fantastic game as a sequel.
