Capcom was hailed as one of the best developers in the industry back in the old days, having earned the moniker of “CAPGODS” at some point. Following a decline in the quality of its games during an era where prominent names expressed their doomsday views regarding the death of the Japanese games industry, the company subsequently earned a new moniker from fans—”Crapcom.”
After the launch of Resident Evil 7 and the shake-up with Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, the company has gone on to develop and retain a solid streak of quality. With the launch of Monster Hunter World in 2018, followed by Devil May Cry 5 and the Resident Evil remake, Capcom’s resurgence in the modern era has placed it on a rightfully-earned upward trajectory.
The studio’s latest project, Dragon’s Dogma 2, launches on March 22, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
