Capcom Is Working On 5 Resident Evil Games, Reveals Leaker

One of them is launching in 2026/2027 according to a trusted insider.

Story Highlights

  • Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem has said five different projects related to the franchise are in development at Capcom.
  • One of these is rumored to be a remake of the fifth game, but nothing is confirmed.
  • According to the leaker, one of these games will launch in late 2026/early 2027 and is an exciting project.

As per Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem, 5 different projects from the franchise are currently in development at Capcom, with one of them quite unsurprisingly being Resident Evil 9. The leaker didn’t reveal anything specific about these mystery productions, but one of them is going to be released in late 2026 or early 2027.

The leaker did not tell us anything else about this mystery Resident Evil title, but he said as it’s not releasing for some time he has to hold his tongue for now. Furthermore, one of these projects is speculated to be a remake of Resident Evil 5, which isn’t too far-fetched considering how it’s the best-selling title in the franchise when the original release and remastered Gold edition are combined.

Only time will be able to tell how all of these Capcom productions turn out to be, but considering the recent track record of Resident Evil there is reason to be excited. Last year’s Resident Evil 4 remake was a success on all fronts. It received universal critical acclaim from critics and fans for the new graphics, controls, and the updated story that retained the original’s best parts.

It was nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards, not to mention it being a massive commercial success. As of December 2023, it has shipped 6.48 million copies worldwide, making it the fastest-selling game in the horror franchise’s history

If the rumored Resident Evil 5 remake is anything like the 2023 title, we are in for a treat. While you wait for these new projects to come out, you can play the Resident Evil 4 remake on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X|S, and even iOS. Our review of the remake gave it 5/5 with Abdul Haddi calling it a “flawless recreation of an already phenomenal game.”
