Among the changes that affect all characters, the most prominent one is arguably the fact that you can accumulate the power gauge while being in MAX mode. Crouching LK will no longer hit air-borne opponents, and Guard Cancel Blow Back no longer allows any follow-ups.

The default Blow Back moves of most characters have been adjusted to increase their combo-scaling value.

The King of Fighters XV’s 1.62 update also brings several changes to grab or throw mechanics. Counter throws can no longer be performed during normal attacks, command moves, and Blow Back cancels.

Air throws have also been adjusted so that all characters have the same horizontal grab range for their air throws, with one exception. Clarke has a slightly larger horizontal grab range than any other character in the roster.

Moves that require a DP input (forward, down, down forward) have their command input window reduced to avoid any accidental DP inputs while executing a quarter-circle-forward motion.

Among other changes, special throws for most characters now instantly increase 50 power gauge on startup. Recovery frames on whiffed special throws have been increased with a few exceptions.
