Square Enix has announced a delay in the launch of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth which was originally planned for the 28th of September. It’s a remake of the game that was first launched in 1999.
It is the first installment of the famous RPG series, Valkyrie Profile. The game was initially named Valkyrie Profile, but its remake is being introduced as Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth.
MAJOR TAKEAWAYS
- Square Enix delayed the release of a much anticipated remaster of the RPG classic citing bug fixes.
- The game was scheduled to be released on 28 September.
- Now the game’s final version will be available to PS4 and PS5 players on 22 December.
Valkyrie Profile’s plotline takes inspiration from Norse mythology. The game has 24 unlockable characters, with Lenneth being the leading warrior. The player is supposed to fight multiple antagonists, also from Norse mythology. The goal is to save Asgard from destruction.
Loki, the God of Mischief, is the final boss of the game. Depending on the choices of the player, the game has multiple endings.
The game has turn-based combat, which was unique for an RPG at that time.
The reception of the game was remarkably positive. It helped the publishers to solidify their position as revered RPG developing studios.
So, it didn’t come as a surprise when Square Enix announced their plan to remaster the game for the next-gen consoles like PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game was already made available for iOS and Android in 2018, and PSP in 2006.
The game’s remastered version’s launch was first planned on September 28, a day before Square Enix’s latest addition to the Valkyrie Profile series, Valkyrie Elysium, is supposed to be released.
The fans of the franchise were excited at the prospect of playing the first game of the series before trying out the latest.
But, as expected as Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth’s release was, Square Enix has spoiled the fun a little by announcing a delay in its release. The studio tweeted on its official Twitter account,
As we celebrate the upcoming launch of VALKYRIE ELYSIUM, we, unfortunately, need a bit more time for VALKYRIE PROFILE: LENNETH to improve the quality of the title and have decided to move the release date to December 22nd, 2022.
For those who have pre-ordered VALKYRIE ELYSIUM Digital Deluxe Edition from the PlayStation™ Store; you will now receive your copy of VALKYRIE PROFILE: LENNETH on December 22nd, 2022.
Thank you for all of your support, we look forward to you playing VALKYRIE ELYSIUM from September 29th and VALKYRIE PROFILE: LENNETH when it launches on December 22nd.
Few fans are unhappy about the delay, as expected. But most of them take the studio for its word and hope that when the game finally releases on December 22 the bugs, which are supposedly the cause of the late release, won’t be there.
The release of Valkyrie Elysium will move forward as planned. With its initial release on PS4 and PS5 on 29 September and steam release on 11 November.
