Have you ever imagined Indians fighting aliens? And that too with the special tech in addition to ancient weapons? I think not. But fret not, a Korean studio going by the name of In-D is said to be working on that very imaginative project. What’s more astonishing is that the studio has only one person working permanently there.
Korean studios have always impressed the gaming world by producing titles like Blade & Soul, Lineage, one of the most successful MMORPGs, and MapleStory. In recent Korean developers have gotten more refined and confident in their craft. It is manifested by growing Indie game projects in Korea.
MAJOR TAKEAWAYS
- Project Gray is In-D’s first project.
- The game caught the attention of several RPG fans with the release of 16-minute gameplay on YouTube.
- The Korean studio, with currently only one permanent developer, is looking to recruit more programmers.
- No specified timeline for the game’s release has been mentioned.
Project Gray, an open-world RPG, is one such project. It is said to be in development for several years, as announced by a one-man studio, In-D. The game follows “Galoso”, a native of the planet “Asirma.”
His planet is attacked by the more advanced civilization known as “Gray”. At first, Gray is friendly. As reported by the Korean website, Inven, Galoso “gains special abilities through the help of friendly Gray” but he soon discovers “the secret motives behind the exchange and then he fights to drive them out.”
Galoso has several special abilities as well. One of which is his right arm, which he uses “to attack numerous attack ships of the Gray.” He is very agile and can climb steep slopes as well. Throughout the game, Galoso has to solve puzzles and fight complex enemies and uncover the secrets of Asirma and its history with Gray.
In an attempt to recruit more programmers, In-D posted a 16-minute gameplay of the alpha version of Project Gray on YouTube. The gameplay looks polished for an alpha. The graphics, along with game physics, look sleek as well.
The video also showed complex combat sequences with powerful enemies. Galoso was shown to have special powers in addition to having an Indian-like ball-headed club and bow and arrows.
This is a very ambitious project for a single person. So far, going by the released footage, they have fared well. But it is beyond one person to complete the game of this scale. Going forward let’s hope they are successful in recruiting qualified personnel.
In-D has not given a timeline for the release of Project Gray. Judging by their recruitment drive, it is probably several years away from completion.
Will the studio be able to bring this game to completion? Tell us your opinions below.
