The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition Rated By ESRB, Cover Art Revealed

The Outer Worlds is a well-executed game, coming right out of the gates of the famous Fallout: New Vegas developer—Obsidian Entertainment. In every in-game gameplay facet from the combat mechanics to the way the art style has been expressed, Obsidian has done a lovely job with this 2019-released RPG. 

Space exploration is encouraged in The Outer Worlds with an emphasis on story-telling freedom. It’s a high-rated title that seemingly made rounds on the internet when it first came out, and it appears that it’s about to do that again with the imminent Spacer’s Choice Edition inbound. 

The Rundown: 

• Although The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition was rated by the Taiwanese rating boards earlier this month, it seems that the ESRB rating for the special variant of the RPG has only now surfaced. 
• Along with the rating, the box art for The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition has also emerged, boasting a peculiar design.

Not too long ago, a version of the game called The Outer Worlds: Spacers Choice Edition popped up on the Taiwanese game rating board. No information was put out by the developer at that time — still isn’t — but game ratings most likely spell a title’s confirmed to release in the not-so-distant future. 

The Outer Worlds: The Spacer’s Choice Edition remains unannounced to this date, but since more and more ratings appear for the soon-to-come version of the famous RPG, an official declaration feels imminent. In relatively recent times, ESRB has managed to join in on the fun by slapping a Mature rating onto the RPG.

That’s not all though; the upcoming title has seemingly had its box art revealed too. Spotting the instance first,  Idle Sloth took to Twitter to post the game’s cover images online. Take a look at the way the box has been designed in the screenshot below.

Looks fancy and the fact that the box includes the tags for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S as well, it’s not wrong to speculate that the Spacers Choice Edition will come with improved textures.

Therefore, the whole thing will look like a proper next-gen upgrade instead of running like a half-baked product on next-gen consoles like it does right now. The Outer Worlds can push out a 60 FPS framerate at the moment on the Xbox Series X and the PlayStation 5, but the texture quality still seems to be out of place.

Along those lines, therefore, you cannot seem to utilize the full force of next-gen consoles, speaking strictly in terms of Obsidian’s open-world RPG. That is to say, the consoles run the game’s PlayStation 4 Pro and the Xbox One X versions, hence the lackluster quality. 

The Outer Worlds: Spacers Choice Edition is shaping up to be the next-gen patch for the title in question, so it’ll also tend to the Xbox Series S. Now, further information presently remains undisclosed whether the revamped version of the title will include new playable content too or not.

On the contrary, the Spacers Choice Edition will supposedly include all the DLC that has come out for The Outer Worlds up until now. In other news, The Outer Wilds 2 developer auditioned for “major NPC” roles via Obsidian’s LinkedIn profile. The production of the sequel appears to be set in motion, but, of course, no release window has been outed yet.
