With the PlayStation 5 making landfall late last year, things have surely been in motion for Sony’s top-tier frontrunner. Retailers all across the spectrum have been struggling to keep stock for any more than a couple of hours, and it has been like that for several months now. However, the launch of the PlayStation 5 did point us towards the thought of a next-gen PSVR in development, which, to our surprise, was confirmed briefly in February this year.
As of yet, the virtual reality headset maneuvering right alongside the PlayStation 5 is reported to sport a 4K resolution display, haptic feedback, and foveated Rendering – all of which seem to be outright next-gen. Furthermore, we have already seen a bevy of information concerning PSVR2 including a lens separation adjustment dial, and a thoroughly refined controller, but if that isn’t enough to have you thrilled, the Digital Foundry team has disclosed exciting information regarding what’s about to come for the up-and-coming VR headset.
During the Digital Foundry Direct Weekly podcast, Richard Leadbetter, who is a notable member of the renowned digital media company, shares his two cents on the topic.
He says, “One thing I think that is kind of heartening is Sony is doing PSVR 2 for the PlayStation 5. We’ve seen some leaked specs and it looks good. We’ve seen some other specs which haven’t been leaked which make it look even better. So, you know, hopefully, the VR will be able to expand [and] there will be more choice in the headset arena.”

While Digital Foundry hasn’t given out their source of this information, all we can do is take their word for it. In addition, this report does not contradict previous leaks for the PSVR2, it only adds to them.
All this does spark some curiosity as to what could be in store for PSVR2 and how Sony is developing the headset. The gaming tycoon has dazzled the entire community with the DualSense, so it would be typical of them to do something similar with their virtual reality domain.
