Remedy Entertainment has just released its financial earnings report, unveiling a massive feat that Control has exceeded more than 10 million players to date. The game was released in 2019 and has won multiple accolades, including the 2020 BAFTA Games Award for Performer in a Supporting Role.
In other news, the company has also cast a lens on their unannounced AAA game project by saying that it has moved into full production mode. It’s almost definite with the number of rumors circulating around since earlier this year that this AAA title is certain to be Alan Wake 2. Many noteworthy industry insiders have backed this claim up, with Jeff Grub being at the forefront of the situation.
As mentioned in the earnings report, Remedy has teamed up with Epic Games Store as the publisher for this upcoming AAA game. Alongside that, the company is also working on a “second, smaller-scale game,” which is now also in full production mode. Moreover, another freebie game called Vanguard is also in the works, and it’s supposed to be a co-op game project. Apparently, a lot is underway at Remedy Entertainment right now, but most of the excitement is owed to the rumored Alan Wake 2.
Remedy’s CEO Tero Virtala commenting on the report has said, “I am happy with the progress we have made so far in 2021. Our financial position is stronger than before. Control continues to reach new players, expands into new games, and is a strong proof of our ability to create category defining games and brands. Our multi-project model is continuously developing and we are approaching a phase where we can launch new games more often and more regularly. We are on track to reach our ambitious long-term growth objectives.”
