Story Highlights
- Fans have discovered a new domain related to Persona 5, possibly hinting at a spin-off project featuring Akechi Goro.
- Atlus has a track record of registering domains in this manner that are subsequently discovered by the players. This has led to the company hiding registrant information.
- Earlier this year, rumors of a Persona 3 Remake were in full swing as a similar domain was discovered along with a clip showing Yukari in modern graphics.
Atlus continues to turn the rumor mill as a new domain related to Persona 5, P5T.JP, has been discovered. Fans are speculating that the T might be referring to Tantei which means detective in Japanese. Players who are familiar with Persona 5 would know that it featured a fan-favorite high school detective, Akechi Goro. Wielder of the Wild Card, Akechi served as a rival to Joker, later on revealing himself to be the perpetrator of the incidents.
The domain happened to be registered last week on May 16. Earlier this year, another similar domain was discovered that hinted at a Persona 3 Remake. This rumor was further propelled by a short clip of Yukari, one of the characters in Persona 3, rendered in full HD using modern graphics. The clip was supposedly part of a larger video presented at an internal SEGA meeting.
In the past, people have discovered several similar domains that ended up manifesting into actual projects. Some of these include Persona 3 and Persona 5 dancing games, Persona 5 Strikers, Persona 5 Royal, and Persona Q2. Atlus has had a history of surveying fans for data and registering domains which at times turn into projects that actually see the light of day.
When it comes to P5T, it’s worth noting that the registrant information is hidden. It’s been known for a while that Atlus hides the registrant name in order to prevent people from discerning any factors pertaining to the domain. While we have seen several projects hit the shelves, what needs to be considered is that Atlus has a ton more domains registered, going up to Persona 10.
This doesn’t necessarily mean that it will happen as developers often get it sorted to prevent the name from being used by other parties. Nevertheless, this Persona 5 rumor should still be taken with a grain of salt until such time when Atlus itself makes an announcement. People are speculating that Persona 3 Remake might be announced at the upcoming Xbox showcase in June. That would add some credibility to these rumors.
Persona 5 Royal is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, PC, and last-gen consoles.
