SEGA

Sega is a video game developer, publisher, and hardware development company based in the futuristic metropolis of Tokyo, Japan, with numerous offices around the globe. While other goliaths have focused on major platforms to push out titles, Sega has dominated the casino and arcade scene by making its name known throughout the world before transitioning into making consoles.

Sega originated from the coalition of slot machine developer Service Games and arcade game manufacturer Rosen Enterprises in 1964, and it crafted arcade games for the next two decennia.

After a steady recession in the arcade game industry in the 1980s, the company metamorphosized into developing and publishing video games and consoles. The company has assembled game consoles and handheld consoles since 1983. Sega was among the primary contenders to Nintendo in the video game console industry. In 2001, Sega halted manufacturing consoles to become a third-party developer and publisher and was acquired by Sammy Corporation in 2004.

In 2020, Sega Games and Sega Interactive merged and were renamed Sega Corporation. Popular franchises by Sega include Sonic The Hedgehog, Yakuza, Warhammer, Total War, and many more. Here you will stumble upon all about Sega news and updates regarding the giant.
