After long anticipation, Persona 3 Reload has been a fantastic new entry in the series that boldly revitalizes a PS2 classic. The game was released yesterday on February 2, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC to an overwhelmingly positive commercial and critical reception.

eXputer’s Hammad Ijaz scored the game a 4.5/5 in his review, stating, “Persona 3 Reload embodies the visual and atmospheric experience I always envisioned for Persona 3, and with some minor adjustments, it unquestionably establishes itself as the definitive version of the game.

Persona 3 is one of the most beloved RPGs on the PS2 thanks to its darker, more mature story alongside a lovable cast of characters that develop throughout its 70+ hour story. However, Reload takes what was good about the original entry while modernizing its more outdated aspects such as the gameplay and presentation, borrowing many elements from 2017’s Persona 5 in its revitalization.

Reload is filled to the brim with entertaining interactions.

Persona 3 Reload features fully-voiced social links for the first time in the series, as well as the ability to give direct commands to party members during battle. Reload even includes its own rendition of the Baton Pass system from Persona 5.

Persona 3’s launch has coincided with yet another massive RPG from a respected long-running franchise: Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth. Coincidentally, Infinite Wealth also happens to be the most successful Steam launch in its franchise.

It seems SEGA’s decision to simultaneously release their newer titles on PC has been paying off in spades. Following the success of the Persona and Like a Dragon series, as well as Sony’s migration into the PC platform, it’s easy to see that the PC has become a major factor in the commercial success of many games.
