A credible insider confirmed its existence earlier this year.

Story Highlights

  • The leaked gameplay of a Fall Guys-inspired Sonic battle royale game has leaked online.
  • The leak confirms rumors by a credible insider, which suggested a release later this year.
  • The footage suggests the title will feature a battle pass. It is aiming to launch on mobile devices.

The first alleged leaked gameplay of a Fall Guys-inspired Sonic battle royale—dubbed Sonic Toys Party—has leaked online. The YouTuber, The Sonic Show, posted exclusive footage on the site. The leaked Japanese trailer (at 6:10 in the video) confirms the entry is currently in the brewer for Android and iOS mobile devices. The gameplay shows different characters from the franchise racing on obstacle courses inspired by the series’ games.

The gameplay also reveals combat, dodging, and the familiar features from Fall Guys-esque titles. Additionally, the trailer sheds light on the battle pass monetization system.

The entry was first rumored by the credible Atlus leaker Midori in January, describing it as a “Sonic spin-off,” and a “free-to-play live service game for a global audience.” It will also seemingly feature collaborations from other Sega franchises, such as Persona. In a recent tweet, the insider has confirmed that the leaked footage is from an early dev build dated almost a year ago. Sonic Toys Party is expected to launch later this year.

The Sonic Franchise Has Recently Been Dashing Into New Genres

While most games in the series are known for dominating the platformer genre, Sega is deepening its roots into new niches. The release of Sonic Frontiers saw the franchise step into the 3D action-adventure genre. And now, Sonic Toys Party will let our favorite hedgehog and his friends step into the realm of battle royale games. Sega will likely continue to spread the IP in different genres to stay relevant and target a new generation of gamers.

All in all, we suggest taking the gameplay footage with a grain of salt. The project is likely in heavy development at the moment. So, a lot shown in the game could change in the final release.
