Two New Persona Games To Release In 2024, Confirms Sega COO Shuji Utsumi

A movie is also possibly in the works.

Story Highlights

  • An interview with Sega COO Shuji Utsumi affirmed that it plans to release two new Persona titles in 2024.
  • The confirmation of the release year has finally calmed the hearts of the excited Persona fans.
  • No other new details about the Persona titles have been confirmed by the publisher or devs at Atlus.

Sega COO Shuji Utsumi has recently appeared in an interview with CNBC to discuss the future objectives of the company, among other things. But one notable particular was casually dropped while talking about the company’s plans regarding classical IPs and other entertainment media. Shuji seemingly confirmed to CNBC that the publisher has two new Persona games scheduled for next year.

The role-playing game franchise was initially discussed as a possible IP that can be adapted to more platforms. The comments regarding the IP were only briefly mentioned in the interview. But it may have even confirmed the possibility of a Persona movie. That is anyone’s guess for now and we suggest taking the vague words with a grain of salt.

As I say, we are trying to be in a lot of different categories, different areas like Roblox, movies. All these IPs can be somewhere else other than games soon,” says Shuji Utsumi.

The confirmation has verified the prior Persona reveals, causing a surge of excitement in the community. Two projects were already confirmed by Sega to be coming out, with one already known to be slated for next year. One of these titles is Persona 3 Reload, and the second is possibly the Persona-inspired entry, Metaphor: ReFantazio. However, some users think the interview was hinting towards a rumored unannounced title.

The rumored game is a secretive project previously brought up by various credible sources throughout the year. It is a party game that is code-named Persona “ASA” and is rumored to feature cast from Persona 1 to 5. The accredited insider @MbKKssTBhz5 on Twitter has previously clarified that this game —with shooting and co-op elements— will also be released in Q3 of next year.

He further clarified that Persona Asa will feature many facets of the franchise that gamers will enjoy. It is essentially a tribute to the old fans but is meant for all. All in all, both Sega and Atlus are quite busy for the upcoming year, and we may hear more details in the near future.
