Sonic Origins Release Date Officially Announced

After a long wait, the remastered collection arriving on the Sonic's 31st Birthday.

Fans of Sonic have eagerly awaited the remastered collection of classic titles, Sonic Origins. The game was recently rated in South Korea, and the curious community also unearthed its cover art and other details. Just a couple of hours ago, the game’s release date was leaked on the Australia and New Zealand PSN stores by the difference of a day, and we had suspected that an official announcement would soon follow. The Sonic franchise has been booming, with its blockbuster movies and titles being a stellar success. However, the aftertaste of classical Sonic games never left the mouth of fans.

Sega has officially announced the release date for the long-awaited Sonic Origins. Moreover, Sega also revealed a new Sonic Origins trailer showing the game in action. The game is set to release on 23 June 2022. This isn’t just a random date drawn randomly out of a box – the date actually marks an important day in the history of the series. Sonic Origins is releasing on Sonic’s 31st Birthday. Since the original Sonic the Hedgehog game, released on the Sega Mega Drive / Genesis, came out on June 23, 1991.

The new Sonic Origins trailer unveils a few of the new animated sequences that have been explicitly made for the remastered collection. It also reveals the distinction between the Classic mode (which shows the original look of the title) and the new Anniversary mode, which allows players to dive into the game in full widescreen.

Sonic Origins blends the most adored quintet of classic games from the 16-bit period of Sonic. The games included are Trio of Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic CD, and Sonic & Knuckles. Players will be able to venture into Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles jointly as one long adventure, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, as was initially planned by Sega.

At the moment, Sonic Origins seems to be a digital release alone. Sonic Origins may have a physical release somewhere in the future, but Sega has stayed silent regarding it. The Standard Edition will drain your pocket of $39.99 / £32.99, while the Digital Deluxe edition with the DLC included will leave you with a charge of $44.99 / £36.99.
