A Mysterious Domain Escalates Rumors Of A Persona 3 Remake

The domain provider appears to be the same as Persona 5 Royal's site.

Story Highlights

  • Persona 3 is one of the mainline RPGs of the Persona series, a part of the larger Megami Tensei franchise by Atlus. It’s renowned for popularizing the series and serving as a catalyst for it.
  • A clip showcasing one of the game’s characters in what appears to be a remake has surfaced online. The clip is part of a larger footage used at an internal meeting.
  • Persona 3 was one of the top two fan-requested remakes in a 2022 Atlus survey alongside Persona 2.

The rumor mill continues to move as the domain name has been discovered that may be hinting at an alleged remake of Persona 3. The domain name appears to be P3RE.jp which is fairly self-explanatory. It’s worth noting that the domain provider appears to be the same as the one for Persona 5 Royal’s site. The resurfaced clip showing Yukari from Persona 3 has also been a cause of major discourse within the community.

Atlus announced the arrival of Persona 4 Golden, Persona 5 Royal, and Persona 3 Portable on modern platforms at the 25th anniversary of the series. Fans have since been speculating about a remake of Persona 3 citing its influence in popularizing the franchise in the West along with having dated gameplay mechanics.

The clip which is currently circling around was initially deleted after being posted and has since resurfaced. People have stated that the animation is far too detailed to be fan-made, however, the act of firing the bow itself appears to be choppy. It was later revealed that the clip happened to be a part of a larger footage used at one of SEGA‘s internal meetings as shown in the top right corner of the video.

Furthermore, in 2022’s survey results, Atlus revealed that Persona 3 and Persona 2 were the top two fan-requested remakes. While this is entirely speculative at this point in time, it appears odd for Atlus to have invested more resources in Persona 3 Portable when porting it to modern platforms. Fans have constantly wondered why Atlus chose to go with Portable instead of porting the FES version of the game.

It has always been a debate within the community as to which version is superior. However, fans have speculated that Atlus may have had some plans for a possible remake of Persona 3 due to which they held back on the port of Portable.

At the moment, we would advise fans to take this information with a grain of salt. If there is a remake in development, Atlus is bound to announce it sooner or later. This is far from being the only leak relating to the Megami Tensei games, however.

Earlier this month, an image surfaced online showing that Shin Megami Tensei III, Shin Megami Tensei IV/IV: Final, and Shin Megami Tensei V were allegedly heading to Xbox Game Pass and PC. The image showcased the 30th-anniversary logo of the Shin Megami Tensei series which will be celebrated in May 2023
