Payday 3 Devs Drop A Schedule Explaining How They’ll Fix The Game

Payday 3 launched on September 21, and was met with almost unanimous disappointment. The game quickly plummeted to a Mostly Negative rating on Steam, with players taking issue with the game’s oversimplification and lack of variety, among other things. Following this disastrous initial launch, the developers have released an update on their website addressing player concerns.

Starbreeze Entertainment has mentioned the game’s first update will drop in early October. This will focus on improving the player experience, with over 200+ QoL improvements arriving for all platforms. Plus, the developers plan on releasing two more updates sometime in October or November, which will bring additional QoL improvements, alongside new content and functionality. Starbreeze CEO, Tobias Sjögren, also had this to say:

First and foremost, I would like to thank our players for the patience they have shown us. Our community is the engine that drives both our games and our company forward. I don’t really need to repeat that this was not the start we wanted, but at the same time, our business model is a marathon and not a sprint and we will tirelessly continue to build PAYDAY 3 bigger and better to deliver the greatest possible value for our players.”

Additionally, the update mentions the devs have already dispatched fixes to stabilize Payday 3’s matchmaking. The team believes the game’s performance and stability should see an improvement now. It’s also worth noting that while over 200+ QoL improvements are mentioned in the roadmap, so far, no specific examples have been given.

Once these improvements and content patches arrive, players can expect to see the game’s first DLC, called “Syntax Error“, in Winter 2023. While these efforts aren’t guaranteed to change players’ opinions of the game, they’re still a step in a positive direction. However, it’ll take a lot to budge the game’s ratings, as it currently sits at number 37 among the top 50 worst-rated games on Steam.
