Forza Motorsport Misleading Trailer Comparison Confirms Visual Downgrades

Forza Motorsport has basked in positive reviews but also saw its fair share of criticism. While the game looks quite mesmerizing compared to most racing titles in the industry, it seems to have suffered quite a noticeable visual downgrade since the misleading reveal trailer came out. The YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits has published a new video that compares the entry with the reveal trailer, showing plenty of clear but nuanced downgrades.

The contrasts range from the change in lightning, density and rendering of vegetation, reflections, and much more. For instance, the reflections are not as detailed as the ones in the trailer. The downgrade leaves much to be desired, especially now that it has changed how lightning is applied to Forza Motorsport during the night. The reveal video also included an amusement park with beautiful lights, which was replaced by a few tents discreetly.

Moreover, some dents and damages on the vehicles in the reveal trailer cannot be seen in the released version of Forza Motorsport. Most of the ray tracing features unveiled in the trailer are still included in the game, but downgrades have also impacted that feature. Specific ray tracing environment effects are no longer present in the final version of the title.

The Forza Motorsport video delves into every nook and cranny to explore the shifts that were secretly made in the game throughout development. Some downgrades seem to make a massive difference, while others are barely noticeable. The visuals still look alluring but fall short of what was advertised in the past. Regardless, the degradation in graphics has caused many players to criticize Turn 10 Studios and Microsoft.

Unfortunately, the entry has been hit by plenty of backlash for a few other reasons. Forza Motorsport apparently features a half-finished and unoptimized live service model, causing a plethora of frustration in the community. The new live service model is also a controversial step for the franchise. Additionally, the RPG-styled progression system alongside the allegedly repetitive career mode has not proven to be everyone’s cup of tea.

Forza Motorsport will come out on October 10, 2023, while the premium edition owners have been able to play for a few days now. We can expect to play it on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC as it skips last-gen.
