Mike Bithell who is best known for his works like Arcsmith, Thomas Was Alone and Volume recently made a tweet that has garnered the attention of gamers. Bithell is also the lead developer behind John Wick Hex, a game based on the John Wick series.
He found unexpected success when his game Thomas Was Alone took off. Bithell is also beloved for his views on the current game industry. He especially addresses issues faced by fellow indie developers producing mobile games. Issues that are not talked about enough in the gaming industry.
In the tweet, he hinted at the project by calling it “something ambitious”. A series of job listings were also a part of his tweet plunging us further into the depths of theories. Bithell Games is currently listing 9 jobs, including a senior and a console programmer, a lead artist, a 3D character artist along with a character concept artist, and a designer.
Okay.. we're starting something ambitious… lots of jobs just went up on our site.. I'll thread 'em over the next few hours, but for the full list and instructions to apply.. https://t.co/z3Qtvk6Ilc
Roles in code/design/art/animation/marketing… we'd love to hear from you.

In the replies to his tweet, he went on to specify every job. The looks of role requirements for his project make it appear that the game is going to be large in scale and truly ambitious, he wasn’t kidding. His way of describing was humorous and wholesome. The reason why he is so appreciated in the indie community shows in his character.
What Can We Expect
Twitter user GriddleOctopus underwent through the numerous listings carefully and compiled a list of what he gathered from the upcoming Bithell Games project.
Seemingly, it’ll fall in the 3D action platform genre, with a focus on human characters, at varying levels of stylization. The large-scale game worlds will be full of exciting and intriguing people while a “knowledge and interest in costuming and fashion,” would be required for developers.

Past Interviews of Bithell Games
In an interview with NME last year, Bithell Games‘ Nic Tringali stated that the quality-oriented approach of the studio’s titles is because “we’re fans first, and we always want to be better. We also chase what is interesting. That excitement translates, because people can feel that we’re excited by whatever it is we’re working on.”
He went on, “everyone feels strongly about doing something interesting. We want to keep ourselves interested.” Tringali continued by saying, “I think of games as a way to tell stories differently. Players can create their own stories, using the game as a tool.”
Stating about his soundtracking experience in various Bithell Games installments, musician Dan Le Sac commented: “It’s similar to being in a band in the sense that when you’re making music for a game, you are there to support the story or support the world-building.”
He further went on, “For games, you’re freer, because it’s not about you, the musician. It’s about the game. My name is irrelevant. It’s about whether what I write builds a world”.
Although, these are the only hints that we have been provided about the title. Nothing else has come out of the woods yet. It may take a couple of years before we get anything close to a finished game. But it’s good to know that one of the most influential developers is back on track to produce unique indie experiences.
