Trucks and Logistics Simulator Review – An Empty Haul of Potential

Simulation games cater to video game lovers who are actively seeking some sense of realism and immersion in a virtual setting. Trucks and Logistics Simulator provides the same experience precisely while introducing new players to driving trucks and logistics management.

I enjoyed the playthrough; although it’s monotonous, I wasn’t disappointed ( for the most part ). I spent a lot of time driving different kinds of vehicles and using various means of transportation. Here is my detailed review of the Trucks and Logistics Simulator.

Story and Setting

Trucks and Logistics Simulator stays faithful to its genre and doesn’t add any narrative to follow through. I was hoping for some storyline or a basic introduction to a main character, but there is none. There is, however, a progression system where you, as a player, start your journey doing small, low-income tasks and gradually grow your business into an utterly fledged transportation empire.

Trucks and Logistic Simulator offers an urban setting for players to drive and explore. The layout and architectural design reminded me of European landscapes. The lack of names or unique landmarks, like the gameplay missions, felt empty. So, I had to get creative and develop fun ideas to play with during my tasks.

The central area of this city consists of long roads, tight intersections, and long stretches of highway that connect one location to another. This is where most driving action will occur, especially when hauling large cargo. I wish there were an option for radio and in-game music playback to enjoy some tunes while driving.

Gameplay

Before diving further into the gameplay mechanics, I should mention this now: the core gameplay stays relatively the same. It’s not a shock to me since I am familiar with the basic gist of simulator games. However, having some variety among missions would have been pleasant.

Standard Features

As you progress through the game, you will unlock several vehicles and gain more responsible logistics duties like loading a large haul of pickup trucks and transporting them to the other side of the city. But you can also explore the open world at your own pace and time.

One of the few features that stood out to me was the customization of vehicles. Since the details on the car design and exterior are decent, this option greatly enhances them. Although not as elaborate as some driving titles, it is still a pleasant addition and would have been missed if it was left out.

I discovered that driving in this game comes with realistic constraints, such as running out of fuel and the risk of your cargo getting damaged during transit since you can get penalized for it. These minor features encourage players to be more mindful of their driving, just like in real life.

Repetition Is a Major Turn Off 

Let’s discuss what did not work for me; this unnamed city lacks personality and character. It feels devoid of any life, even though heavy traffic is abundant on highways; it failed to elicit any exciting response from me. After a while, it felt like I was completing these unrewarding tasks to progress.

There is no variety of missions; it’s just basic load, deliver, and unload missions throughout the game. Whether you are trailing a large trailer of automobiles, delivering cargo in your little van, or managing shipment at docks using a forklift, mechanics stay unchanged.

There is no sense of accomplishment in the end. Just repeat it and progress to a more significant task.

Controls

Trucks and Logistics Simulators leave much to be desired when controlling the vehicle. I was struggling to steer my car through the traffic, and no matter how I adjusted it, it always felt a bit unstable. You can get used to it after a while, but this can be a dealbreaker if you want some easygoing experience.

When moving through, more oversized cargo feels sluggish when maneuvering, simulated. You can feel like you are hauling a substantial amount of baggage behind your back. It does need to be a bit more polished to prove its worth against other driving sims.

Multiplayer Mode

The 24-player multiplayer Mode does add excitement and thrill if you have friends willing to run your logistics business or throw everything aside and wreak havoc on the roads in monster trucks. However, the lack of communication may turn this into a sour experience.

You can use 3rd party software to voice chat with your friends, but that is not the point. Judging by the game and what it offers, this feels like a massive misfire since multiplayer modes typically benefit from vocal communication options in-game.

Visuals & Performance

For a game aimed towards realism, I think Trucks and Logistics Simulator met quite a few expectations, if not all of them. Sure, it does not compete with Forza, but does it have to? The overall look and attention to detail are worth mentioning, especially regarding vehicle designs.

The open-world map is pretty huge, which constantly distracts me from my task; instead, I used to roam around the city, admiring the mountainous landscapes, or sit in my vehicle on the side of the road, immersed in rainy weather. The lighting effects at night are incredible, improving this relaxing experience.

Verdict

I was disappointed at first, but after a while, I learned to appreciate the little details more and more. It is not a perfectly crafted game, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t have a good time with it. It toned down my expectations to some extent and humbled me, but I found it to be a relaxing gaming experience.

Trucks and Logistics simulator feels like an untapped potential, lacking in the setting and environment of this game, which I would love to see fleshed out more. I enjoyed this mixed blend of hollow ideas, but at no point did this game warrant its price.

While Trucks and Logistics Simulator doesn’t leave much of an impression, it offers an enjoyable experience for those seeking a relaxing and fun time. However, for players looking for a profound gaming experience, this might be an afternoon snack rather than a full-course dinner.
