Atari: 50th Anniversary Collection is now getting 39 more games and two new timelines as part of a newly announced DLC. The tidbit was confirmed by Atari and Digital Eclipse in a new announcement, serving as a piece of good news for the original collection owners who purchased it back in 2022. You can grab it for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series consoles, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC on October 25.
The first timeline—dubbed The Wider World of Atari—will contain 19 titles and 8 video segments to explore the in-depth stories from the company’s history. On the flip side, The First Console War timeline will boast 20 titles and six video segments to explore the intricacies of the rivalry between the Atari 2600 and Mattel’s Intellivision. Unfortunately, no names of titles have been mentioned that will be included in the new collection.
Before Nintendo Vs. Sega, The Rivalry Was Between Atari And Intellivision
The beginning of video game consoles also brought forth the famous rivalries between companies trying to stand atop each other. Atari and Intellivision were some of the first recorded instances that boosted competition and added a sense of comradery in the young gaming industry. However, this battle had a satisfying conclusion—even if it was when no one cared anymore—with Atari buying the Intellivision brand altogether.

The famous rivalry and the early classics were the hallmarks of that time until the video game crash that spelled the company’s downfall. But hey, it’s still kicking despite not being a juggernaut anymore.
