Bloober “Open” To Remaking Another Silent Hill Game

After the success of Silent Hill 2, another iteration should be obvious at this point.

Story Highlights

  • Bloober Team is the proud developer of the newly released Silent Hill 2 remake, which is off to early success.
  • The developer has spoken up in a new interview, saying it’s open to remake more Silent Hills.
  • Fans demand that the first Silent Hill gets remade next since it’s the most deserving.

For a developer who’s only ever worked on games like Layers of Fear and Observer, it was nothing but fair for fans and critics to doubt the Polish developer when it came down to spearheading a project as imposing as Silent Hill 2. About two weeks into said game’s release, Bloober has far surpassed expectations, creating a high-level product that’s on par with the standard of Capcom’s Resident Evil reimaginings.

And tell you what? Given the opportunity, Bloober may as well do it all over again.

Speaking in a recent interview, the studio’s director Wojciech Piejko affirmed that Bloober would not miss remaking another Silent Hill game if given the chance. Even more now, when Silent Hill 2 has rolled over more than a million units in less than a month — which is a far bigger achievement than the original Silent Hill 2 selling that much in lifetimes sales — the case for another remake has consolidated.

I think we are always open. If we like the opportunity, we’ll take it.”

He added, “There are opportunities that you have to seize. Like Silent Hill 2, you can remake the legend. So yeah, I do believe that everything’s possible.”

The obvious choice for a new Silent Hill remake is the first iteration, and there’s no doubt about it. While both the latter and the sequel possess different storylines and characters, it makes sense to redo the original Silent Hill and have Silent Hill 3 follow afterward.

It bears noticing, however, that deciding what Silent Hill rendition to remake was never Bloober’s call, and was always Konami’s. The studio confirmed in the past that the publisher and IP owner Konami has “plans” for the future of the franchise. What they are is anyone’s guess at this point, though more Silent Hill projects are real and coming.

We Now Know What Bloober Is Working On Next

YouTube video

Bloober has already revealed during the Xbox Partner Preview event what it’s working on next, and I have to say I like what I see here. Cronos: The New Dawn is a third-person shooter, with its roots etched deep in the psychological horror department. Fingers crossed as to how it’ll turn out, but we do know the title’s in capable hands.
