Story Highlights
- 007 First Light has sold over 4 million copies since its May 27 launch, IO Interactive confirms.
- It’s the second-best-selling game in the US so far in 2026, behind only Resident Evil Requiem.
- IO Interactive is also bringing the game to Nintendo Switch 2, expected in September.
IO Interactive’s James Bond origin story keeps adding to a sales run that’s already outpaced expectations for a franchise that had been absent from gaming for over a decade.
A Steady Climb To 4 Million

IO Interactive confirmed the milestone in a post on X:
4 million copies sold since launch! Thank you for joining us on this journey and being part James Bond’s return to gaming.” The number builds on a strong trajectory since 007 First Light’s May 27 release: 1.5 million copies in its first 24 hours, 2.7 million within the first week, and now over 4 million roughly three months later.”
That pace puts the game in genuinely rare company. According to Circana analyst Mat Piscatella, 007 First Light is currently the second-best-selling game in the US so far this year, trailing only Resident Evil Requiem’s 7 million units.
The Sequel Question Is All But Settled
007 First Light isn’t finished expanding its reach either. IO Interactive is bringing the game to Nintendo Switch 2, with listings on Amazon’s US and Japan storefronts pointing to a September 16 release on the platform. The game has also been receiving a steady post-launch content roadmap, with its first major update in July adding two new Tactical Simulation missions, three unlockable weapons, and other additions, with more planned.
The sales performance also appears to have settled questions about the franchise’s future that lingered before launch, when Amazon’s acquisition of the James Bond IP left some uncertainty around what would happen next. Amazon Games GM Jeff Gattis has indicated the next Bond game will be developed by Amazon Game Studios instead of IO Interactive.
For a studio best known for the Hitman series’ 25 million lifetime copies sold, delivering a new IP that’s already crossed 4 million in under three months is a genuinely strong result, even if it still has plenty of ground left to cover before catching up to IO Interactive’s own back catalog.
