How To Farm Fallout 76 Black Titanium

Take Down Some Mole Men.

Fallout 76’s Black Titanium is a component in the game that is required for a few different crafting projects. Most of these are powerful end-game pieces of equipment like the Excavator Power Armor, so as expected this resource is pretty valuable.

It is also fairly rare, so finding it can be a bit of a hassle in the open world. There are a few different locations where players can reliably locate some mining spots, but there they also have to contend with other hazards.

So with this Black Titanium Farming guide, we’ll try and outline the best methods of obtaining this resource.

Key Highlights
  • Black Titanium is a critical component used in crafting a piece of end-game equipment in Fallout 76, such as the Excavator Power Armor.
  • It is difficult to find but can be located in two forms: Black Titanium Ore and Black Titanium Scrap.
  • Black Titanium Ore is randomly scattered throughout the game world, but players can increase their chances of finding it by purchasing single-use maps from the “U-Mine-It!vending machine.
  • These maps highlight mining sites on the player’s map.
  • The Ash Heap region is known to have a higher concentration of Black Titanium Ore.
  • Black Titanium Scrap can be obtained by processing Black Titanium Ore at a chemistry station.
  • An alternative way to acquire Black Titanium is by killing Mole Miners, enemies found in specific locations, and breaking down their drops, Miner Suit Scrap, into Black Titanium, Gears, and Steel.
  • Note that killing Mole Miners can be a quicker method of obtaining Black Titanium, it is more combat-oriented compared to simply exploring for Ore.

Before we begin, it should be mentioned that Black Titanium can be found in two different states.

Black Titanium Ore is the raw form of the resource, and it can be found in mining spots all over Appalachia. These are the most common sources of this material, but they are also randomly dotted around the map

The second form is Black Titanium Scrap, which is the state in which players can actually use it for crafting. You can get this via a few different methods, including processing it from Ore at a chemistry station.

How To Find Black Titanium

As mentioned above, you can randomly encounter Black Titanium Ore veins while playing through the game. But there is a more precise way of finding them as well, if you’re willing to spend money.

The ‘U-Mine-It!’ vending machine is a vendor that can be found in a few different locations in the game.

  • Beckley Mine Exhibit: Explore inside the building to find it.
  • Kanawha Nuka-Cola Plant: Search near the door that leads to the building lobby.
  • Sal’s Grinders: In an alley next to the building.
  • The Rusty Pick: Next to the bar near the entrance and the ice machine.
  • Welch: On the side of the bakery building, next to the Red Rocket logo.

Interacting with this machine will allow you to purchase single-use maps that highlight mining sites on you map. You can then go over to these spots and unearth a bunch of different resources.

In order to improve your chances of getting Black Titanium ore, try and use these maps in the Ash Heap region.

If you’re short on money or don’t feel like treasure hunting, you can opt for a more combat-oriented farming method as well.

There are enemies in the game known as Mole Miners, who drop a junk item known as Miner Suit Scrap. Each of these can be broken down by the player for 1x Black Titanium, 1x Gears and 1x Steel.

Mole Miners can usually be found in small groups in the following locations:

  • Big Bend Tunnel West.
  • Blackwater Mine.
  • Garrahan Mining Headquarters.
  • Monongah Power Plant.
  • Mount Blair.
  • South Cutthroat Camp.
  • The Rusty Pick.
  • Top Of The World.
  • Uncanny Caverns.

Kill as many as you can in one area, and then move on to the next. It takes a while for the enemies to spawn back, so logging out every now and again also helps to speed things along.
