Andrew Tate, a former professional kickboxer and controversial internet celebrity, was jailed in Romania with his brother on Thursday.

According to a statement acquired by CBS News from Romanian prosecutors, search warrants were executed in numerous locations on Thursday due to allegations of “an organized criminal cell” involved in “people trafficking and ****.”

Moreover, according to authorities, six women were sexually exploited by the organized crime group.

Prosecutors said two British nationals and two Romanian citizens were arrested and taken to the law enforcement headquarters in Bucharest. Prosecutors stated that once they were interrogated, it was agreed that they would be imprisoned for 24 hours. 

“The four suspects … appear to have created an organized crime group with the purpose of recruiting, housing, and exploiting women by forcing them to create pornographic content meant to be seen on specialized websites for a cost,” prosecutors stated.

Since April, the two brothers have been the subject of a criminal investigation. Tate and his brother Tristan were among those arrested. They have declined to comment on the situation. However, the Tate brothers’ lawyers verified that they had been arrested.
