Streamer calls on Twitch to end the harmful relationship with Hogwarts Legacy and continue to take steps toward providing a safe place for the trans community.
Unfortunately, it does not seem that Twitch creators are able to opt out of the Hogwarts Legacy ads. They are being shown on their streams regardless of the streamers’ wishes. This has prompted a campaign by content creators to boycott the platform.
Twitch streamers have mixed reactions to JK Rowling’s transphobia. Many Twitch streamers have taken to social media to show their support. Content creators have also decided to opt out of promoting the Harry Potter franchise on their streams. Some decided to turn off their ads for the duration of the campaign, and some choosing not to stream at all.
Popular Twitch streamer, Hasanabi has suggested playing it live while raising money for a trans-positive charity. Many expressed their solidarity and agreed to take part in the boycott.
However, it is clear that this campaign has struck a chord with many people. It has become a symbol for standing up for marginalized communities and taking a firm stance.
