Bluepoint Games To Reveal A New Project “When The Time Is Right”

The game was first hinted in a holiday card.

Story Highlights
  • Peter Dalton from Bluepoint Games recently talked about an upcoming project.
  • After numerous remakes this game will be an original.
  • It was first hinted through a holiday card on the PlayStation blog.

Peter Dalton, the head of technology at Bluepoint Games, has had something very interesting to say as a follow-up in response to the recent layoffs at Microsoft.

While he was truly saddened to hear about these terminations, he offhandedly talked about how the Bluepoint Games staff is hard at work with their upcoming title.

In his tweet, he mentioned that the studio is, in fact, working on a new project that would require the expertise of numerous rendering programmers. In this tweet, he also linked the company’s official website, where numerous open positions in Bluepoint Games can be browsed through.

Their website states, “We are always on the lookout for passionate talent to grow our game development studio.”

As of now, the company is looking for multiple engineers and audio technicians, among many others. The list includes:

  • Senior Graphics Engineer
  • Senior General Engineer
  • Senior Game Engineer
  • Senior Tools Engineer
  • Senior Technical Artist
  • Technical Artist
  • Lead VFX Artist
  • Audio Director
  • Lead Combat Designer
  • Senior Combat Designer
  • Lead Systems Designer
  • Senior Systems Designer
  • Senior Level Designer
  • Senior 3D Character Artist

All of these openings may be directly or indirectly related to the mysterious new project Bluepoint Games is working on.

After Bluepoint Games joined Playstation back in 2021, it has yet to announce another project. In fact, after Demon’s Souls remake, we have been hearing radio silence from the team.

This seemed odd to many because, after the success of the game, it was expected that Bluepoint Games would dive head-first into making another title.

However, this radio silence was broken recently through a holiday card. On PlayStation’s official blog, the company added a list of cards from all their developers. This, of course, would also include Bluepoint Games.

In the card, we could see 3 opened presents and one that was still wrapped. The three open ones were a nod to the three games that the company has worked on. The games included are Demon’s Souls remake, Shadow of the Colossus remake, and God of War Ragnarok.

While Bluepoint Games did not play a major part in God of War Ragnarok, they did do some support work for the game.

Right after the greeting card dropped, fans were buzzing with excitement. There was much speculation about what the fourth game could be. What we do know is that the game will not be a remake.

In an interview with IGN back in September 2021, it was revealed that the company would be working on a new game. Thrush said, “Our next project, we’re working on original content right now. We can’t talk about what that is, but that’s the next step in the evolution for us,”

However, the company was yet to officially talk about any release. Even when directly asked about it on Twitter, Peter Dalton remained cryptic.

He said, “When the time is right. All good things take time.” We could not agree more.
