Any of you remember that fun little action game Crytek made back in 2013 set in Ancient Rome? Well, Xbox fans sure do. Following a post by Crytek asking players about Ryse: Son of Rome, the developers saw responses from a huge number of Xbox fans asking for the game to return with a sequel or a remake. Ryse: Son of Rome was one of the launch titles for the Xbox One and has remained fondly in the hearts of many.
What fond memories do you have of Ryse: Son of Rome and the journey of Marius Titus?

In response to the post, droves of Xbox fans replied, asking for a possible sequel or remake of the original title. Now while I think the idea of a remake is kind of silly, especially for a game that looks as good as Ryse, it is surprising that the game never received a sequel, especially with such a passionate fan following. The game itself was a very simple albeit competent action game with a bloody satisfying combat system.
At launch, the game was criticized for its short length and linear campaign, but in current times that kind of thing feels more like a positive than a problem when most new games now are around 50 hours long. The game garnered a respectable following thanks to both its aforementioned combat, impressive visuals, and engaging story. The story followed a rage-driven Roman soldier by the name of Marius Titus avenging the brutal murder of his family.
Crytek has built up an impressive record of respectable games over the years that have pushed and elevated the bar for visual fidelity in games. Responsible for one of the most demanding PC games of it’s time with Crysis, Crytek continues to raise the bar in fidelity even today. They continue to raise the bar even today with a great remaster of the Crysis trilogy as well as one of the best online shooters currently available with Hunt Showdown.
