Cyberpunk 2077 will reportedly see massive overhauls and changes throughout the entire game when the Phantom Liberty expansion rolls out. The staggering tidbit has been confirmed by CD Projekt Red’s Pawel Sasko, the quest director for the game. During an interview with Video Games Chronicle, Pawel confirmed that the original game is receiving monumental changes that will enhance the user experience to a new level.
All the core, main systems of the game have been redone or updated in a major way. The biggest ones are the perks and skill trees, which have been rebuilt completely, and the next one is we’ve added vehicle combat which enables new car chases,” says Pawel Sasko.
The core mechanics include a complete overhaul to the criticized police system to make it more organic. In other words, police officers may not spawn out of thin air as soon as a crime is committed. There will be different levels in the Police unit that will face the players’ increasing progression of chaos, and it will also be unique in Night City and Dog Town.
We’ve also redone the loop and whole progression of the game; the difficulty curve is different, the tiers and drops of loot is different, the archetypes of enemies has been redone for more variety. Those are the core things that we’ve changed.”
As per the quest director, only a few things have not been touched. For instance, even the UI/UX will be changed in the new update. There will be more in-game events in Cyberpunk 2077, like dynamic car chases and overhauled vehicle gameplay, enemy AI improvements, and much more. Pawel claims that many existing vehicles have been now weaponized with Gatling guns and rockets, or V could shoot out the door or windshield.
The Katana can be used on motorcycles to slice your enemies while driving, and vehicles also have weak spots. Cyberware will also see enormous changes; there is a new unique Relic tree with points to upgrade it in Dog Town to modify Cyberware and a new capacity system to mark the Cyberware limit before V hits cyber psychosis. Moreover, we will also get to see enough of Johnny Silverhand in the new DLC, as we did in the base game.
The skill tree will also receive a staggering overhaul, focusing on the actual abilities instead of the current stat system. “For instance, one will add a new dash move, another will allow players to deflect bullets, or perform execution finishers. Modifiers around each skill allow players to further power up these abilities.”
The new trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty DLC was shown yesterday, live at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023 event, attracting the gazes of many fans. The official trailer once again unites V with Jhonny Silverhand in a quest to save the president from imminent danger. In turn, V may finally receive the much-needed help to cure the ticking time bomb in the protagonist’s head.
The title hit rock bottom right after release due to the sheer number of bugs and other anomalies plaguing the otherwise enticing experience. Regardless, every update has slowly polished the bug-filled venture with new content, and improvements, adding more vitality to the streets of the night city. The recent anime adaptation also played a giant role in amassing new users to the game, and the new DLC is anticipated to shatter all records.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is set to release on September 26th on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC. It is worth noting that the overhaul update will be free for all users regardless of the Phantom Liberty expansion.
