Several job listings on the website of Flying Wild Hog have revealed that the developer is working on a new third-person action title in Unreal Engine 5. Titled an “ambitious project” in the job description, the Polish developer is building this game specifically for next-gen consoles. Unsurprisingly, the upcoming title will also release on PC, but it won’t launch on current-gen consoles like the PlayStation 4.
The job listing for Senior Technical Artist discovered by MauroNL gives us our first details about this new Flying Wild Hog game. As the description in the “About The Position” section reads, the studio is creating this project in Unreal Engine 5. Furthermore, as the listing for VFX Artist uncovers, this title will support the Niagara VFX system of UE5 as revealed in the “Requirements” section of the listing.
Next up, we learn about the nature of this game in the job description for a Senior VFX Artist. The “About The Position” section reveals that this project will be a “fast-paced third-person action title.” Hence, it seems like Flying Wild Hog is going for a Doom-like approach, with a third-person perspective. Besides all of this Unreal Engine info, nothing else is revealed in the few job listing regarding this title.
No information is present about whether this project is a new IP or a sequel to an existing property. The description of this game does match that of the 2022 Flying Wild Hog title Evil West. It was also a fast-paced third-person action game that came out on both current-gen and next-gen consoles. Only time will reveal the real nature of this project and until then we can only wait.
Flying Wild Hog has been releasing one game after another after shifting gears in 2022. The Polish studio released four games, including the second sequel in the long-running Shadow Warrior franchise last year. It also launched the side-scrolling samurai action game Trek to Yomi, which was built in Unreal Engine 4, in May of 2022.
In addition, Flying Wild Hog released another new IP in the form of Evil West, which came out on all platforms except the Switch. The Polish developer’s last game of 2022 was the online co-op ARPG Space Punks and it only launched on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
One interesting thing to note here is that none of these games used the Unreal Engine 5 game development engine. Flying Wild Hog developed these titles in Unreal Engine 4 and is yet to use the latest version for any of its projects. Therefore, this under-the-works project by the developer is certainly something to look forward to in the not-so-distant future.
