Final Fantasy 16 had a banger release recently for PlayStation 5, and it seems like the developers have more in store for fans. The game’s producer Naoki Yoshida and creative director Kazutoyo Maehiro recently sat down in an interview with Famitsu and confirmed the availability of 100 side quests in the title.
Yoshida: “The main story is moderately difficult so that everyone can enjoy it, but there are a lot of things that are out of place outside of the main story (laughs). There are about 100 side quests in total.
Initially, the developers did not intend to go much further with the additional content. However, Yoshida wanted Final Fantasy 16 to have a much larger scale and was not satisfied with the initial plan of the game’s size being near to FFT’s Brave Story. Therefore, they decided to add a huge number of side-quests in the title.
Maehiro: “We didn’t plan to go that far at first, but then Nanigashi Yoshida said, ‘Let’s make it more detailed!’ and he put in a side-quest. We were thinking about the size of FFT’s Brave Story, but Nanigashi Yoshida said, ‘That’s not enough.'”
According to Naoki Yoshida, the team had to develop long-term plans for the future of Final Fantasy 16. In Yoshida’s opinion, the initial sales of the game may not determine the future of the entry. They have some steps planned, so the entry will have a long run.
In this day and age, even when a product goes on sale, initial sales figures alone do not determine the outcome and this time, we have prepared a variety of measures for the future. We will continue our PR activities so that people will buy the game along with PS5 even after the release date.
Final Fantasy 16 came out on June 22, 2023, for the PlayStation 5 as a timed exclusive.
