Final Fantasy Record Keeper Global Version Shutting Down After 7 Years

The Japanese version of the game is still continuing, however.

Final Fantasy is one of the most popular gaming franchises on the planet. Almost 15 games have come out in the main series and every one of them has been a huge success. Other spin-offs and remakes have also launched and made a competent amount of sales

A franchise as big as Final Fantasy does not restrict itself to the original medium. Similarly, Final Fantasy has expanded a lot from video games and is on many different platforms and media. It has a lot of comics, novels, and some CGI movies too but most importantly, it has several mobile games.

Mobile has become a major platform for gaming and Square Enix has put the series on the platform. One of the longest-running games of the franchise on mobile is Final Fantasy Record Keeper. The gacha game has been around for 7 years but this run is coming to an end soon.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper will officially be shutting down in the September of this year after an in-game announcement. Square Enix and developers DeNA made this termination official through a few notes in-game (thanks, Zero-ELEC). On 29th September 2022, the game will officially discontinue its service.

Only the global version of the game which launched on March 25, 2015, is seeing this termination notice. After 7 and a half years, Final Fantasy Record Keeper’s global version will go offline, according to Square Enix. However, the Japanese version of the gacha game which came out a year prior is still going on.

Some new banners are coming to the Japanese version of the game too. It is showing no signs of stopping and we don’t think Square Enix is taking it offline anytime soon. The global version going out before the Japanese one is weird as the latter came out earlier.

Producer of the game Ichiro Hazama thanked the fans for playing the title for 7 years. He said that the players were the reason the game is what it is today and he is forever grateful. Final Fantasy Record Keeper was a simple gacha game but they made the players made it special, said Hazama.

In the meantime, Square Enix has already given mobile players of Final Fantasy another recommendation. The official Twitter account of Record Keeper has implored players to play Final Fantasy Brave Exvius instead. Similar to Final Fantasy Record Keeper, this title also came out in 2015 and will probably not shut down soon.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper will go out as the fourth longest-running Square Enix game at the end of its run. With 10 million downloads to boast about, it has certainly been a huge success. Hopefully, we see an even better mobile game launch from the series very soon.
