Diablo 4 has been shattering expectations ever since it came out and has just bagged another major milestone to boast about. The hardcore RPG experience became the most downloaded title last month for the PlayStation 5. As announced by the PlayStation.Blog, the game stood atop all the other premium entries to grab the top spot, pushing Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 16 down to second place on the PS5.

The demon-slaying venture has loomed over the top spot, followed by Final Fantasy 16 in the US/Canada and European regions. Street Fighter 6, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 made it to the top 5 spots in the US/Canada region. On the other hand, The F1 23, Grand Theft Auto 5, and FIFA 23 have also made it to the top five across the European region on the PlayStation 5.

Diablo 4 was also June’s most-downloaded game for the PlayStation 4, with prominent names below it across both regions, while Minecraft is in first place for the European region. For the PSVR 2 headset, Beat Saber also dominated in the included places. Fortnite was unsurprisingly the most downloaded game last month on the PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles in the free-to-play section.

The new Diablo installment has risen in all the charts it’s been featured in since its release. For instance, it recently surpassed Final Fantasy 16 to become June’s best-selling game in Germany. While we do not know the exact numbers that reveal the global sales number for Diablo 4, it might just ascend to become one of the most sold and played games this year.

Final Fantasy 16 was likely surpassed by Diablo 4 due to a few factors. For instance, it has about an advantage of 20 days over Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 16, and its multiplayer genre makes it more popular among the masses.

The entry proved to be a stellar hit among the new and veteran players, garnering a Metascore of 86 on Metacritic for PC. The title has been fabled to arrive on the Xbox Game Pass. Nevertheless, those rumors were recently tackled by Blizzard’s president. It certainly siphoned away all hope for the game’s arrival on the subscription service.
