Mike Ybarra, president of Blizzard Entertainment has debunked the rumor of Diablo 4 releasing on the Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s flagship gaming subscription service. The rumor originated due to a Brazilian payments app, PICPAY, stating that Blizzard’s latest RPG was available on Game Pass. Coming from a service that’s an official retailer of gift cards in the country, the rumor rapidly gained steam.

The banner was removed shortly after being posted. This added more fuel to the fire as players began to speculate whether this news was official & if Diablo 4 was actually going to release on the service. As the news began to spread, Ybarra confirmed that the information was false, putting all fan speculation to rest. Such errors are fairly common, especially when similar setups are often responsible for leaking valuable information.

Diablo 4 is the latest entry in the iconic RPG series, following the mobile spin-off, Diablo Immortal. Officially launched on June 5, 2023, the game enabled early access for players who bought the deluxe and ultimate editions. It was later announced that the fourth mainline entry became the fastest-selling Blizzard title to date, generating a staggering $666 million in revenue within the first few days of its release.

With its first major update, “Season of the Malignant” scheduled for release on July 20, players are preparing by tackling the content Diablo 4 currently has on offer. As this will lead to a content drought or burnout for some players, lead developers of the game have stated that players should take a break and go play something else if they’re out of things to do. A healthy approach to take with such time-intensive games.

Diablo 4 is out now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC, and last-gen consoles.
