Two Nintendo Directs Confirmed For Next Week

Nintendo of America confirmed the news directly:

“Join us next week for two #NintendoDirect presentations! The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct on Sept 8 at 7am PT (Approx 30 mins) Nintendo Direct on Sept 9 at 7am PT (Approx 45 mins).”

Both will stream on Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch channels, as well as through the Nintendo Today app.

The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct

The Zelda-focused Direct kicks things off on September 8 at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET, running roughly 30 minutes. Nintendo hasn’t detailed what’s actually being shown, but the timing lines up with the franchise’s 40th anniversary, which passed back in February 2026.

Rumors have pointed to a possible release date and gameplay demo for the Ocarina of Time remake, and Nintendo has already been dropping smaller hints at a celebration for months, including the leaked Zelda-themed Switch 2 console and Pro Controller that surfaced a few weeks ago.

The General Nintendo Direct, One Day Later

The second broadcast airs September 9 at the same 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET slot, running about 45 minutes. Unlike the Zelda showcase, this one is a standard Direct covering upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch software, with Nintendo specifically pointing to titles releasing this winter. A Nintendo Treehouse: Live stream follows immediately after, running roughly 110 minutes and showing off gameplay from select titles featured during the Direct.

This is Nintendo’s first general Direct since June, following a stretch that included a dedicated Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave Direct in August and a Splatoon Raiders Direct before that. Running two full Direct broadcasts back-to-back in the same week is also a first for Nintendo, adding to the sense that September 8 and 9 are shaping up to be a bigger showcase than usual.
