Final Fantasy VII Revelation hits PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) on April 8, 2027. That’s the finish line for a trilogy that kicked off with Remake in 2020 and continued with Rebirth in 2024.

Two Story DLCs Confirmed

Square Enix didn’t stop at the release date. A Story Expansion Pass is coming too, carrying two DLCs, one centered on Sephiroth, another on Vincent and the Turks. Grab the Premium or Premium Plus edition and both DLCs come bundled in, plus Early Access, a full day’s head start before the game hits everyone else.

According to Square Enix’s press release, Story DLC 1 and DLC 2 are planned for release between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028, with both also sold separately after their respective launches.

The Premium Plus Edition adds a digital art book, a digital mini soundtrack, an in-game armor piece, and additional accessories on top of everything in the standard Premium tier. A Final Fantasy VII Remake Series Trilogy Edition, bundling all three games, is also available for pre-order now.

What’s Actually New In Revelation

Revelation is shifting the trilogy into a fully open world for the first time, with the Highwind airship as a controllable way to explore it. Here’s what else Square Enix confirmed is changing:

  • Piko returns, this time pulling double duty as a mount and a combat partner who levels up with the party.
  • Four specialized outfits, Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner, make up the new Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear system. Equip one and a character’s moveset, abilities, and look all change with it. Cid rocked the Knight FITS in the gameplay deep dive, Vincent went with Summoner.
  • A new grappling gun has been added for scaling rooftops and navigating cities more quickly.
  • Players can instantly swap between party members while exploring the world.
  • Players can choose which party member takes on certain quests, with that choice shaping how specific story events and gameplay scenarios play out.
  • Queen’s Blood returns with an entire storyline centered on Red XIII, introducing new opponents capable of dramatically shifting the flow of a match.

Pre-orders are live now across all platforms, with a Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia offered as a bonus for anyone who pre-orders before launch.
