Ghostrunner 2 has just been announced during the PlayStation Showcase 2023. The trailer shows similar gameplay to the prequel, which was well-received at launch. At the beginning of the trailer, we can see what appears to be the main character riding a cyberpunk-esque motorcycle along a wall in a post-apocalyptic world. The character can then be seen slashing enemies and beating them in the traditional Ghostrunner style.
Ghostrunner 2 received some spotlight during the prequel’s 2nd anniversary. At that time, the developers revealed that the game would be an “evolution, not a revolution,” what they meant by this will likely be cleared up as we break down the details lingering in the trailer. The developers also called it “the second part of Ghostrunner,” so we might see a more meaningful continuation between the two games.
Ghostrunner 2 will be larger than its prequel and offer more opportunities for players to learn about the game’s story and the characters you might encounter along the way. Nevertheless, the game will not compromise its fast-paced gameplay and will adhere to the series’ fans, who have waited a while for this sequel to come. Though the release date is still not confirmed, we know it will come in the latter half of 2023.
The game will release for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, skipping PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
