Goldeneye Remastered Will Have 4K Resolution On Xbox

The remastered title will include achievements, 4K resolution, smoother frame rate, and split-screen MP.

First released on the Nintendo 64 by famed developer Rare back in 1997, Goldeneye 007 managed to overcome the usual fate of movie tie-in games and was highly regarded as one of the most popular titles on Nintendo’s first 3D console, and to this day, is considered one of the greatest video games ever made.

Goldeneye 007 introduced several concepts that are still part of the FPS genre 25 years later. As it stands, the title actually spawned a whole new decade of shooters, until it started to fade back into oblivion, as all classic titles do. But there have been attempts at resurrection, and this one seems to be going pretty strong.

The game was then remade for the Wii back in 2010, with Pierce Brosnan substituted with Daniel Craig, and with added motion controls. However, this experience could barely capture what made the original so good. Later, it was found out that a project was indeed under development but was canceled due to legal issues with Nintendo.

Later on, Jeff Grub stated in his podcast“I believe this game is probably coming quite soon, I’m guessing next few of weeks.” But, that’s not all; he further predicted, “I believe Microsoft is going to be the one to unveil it first

This phrase aged like a fine wine, as Microsoft did end up being the studio that unveiled the remaster. Players will be able to experience GoldenEye 007 faithfully recreated for Xbox consoles. Includes achievements, 4K resolution, and a smoother framerate, even in split-screen local multiplayer.

All this after 25 years of the original’s release. The teaser does not show much, but just getting a reveal is a win at this point. Looking at how hyped and enthusiastic the community was to finally get a Goldeneye title, only speaks glory for Microsoft.

Adding the fact that it is coming to Xbox Game Pass, also pushes Microsoft ahead of its competitors.
